Adams Street Shul, Modern Orthodox Jewish synagogue in Nonantum, Newton, US

The Adams Street Shul features a Romanesque Revival architectural design with a single-story brick structure, round-arch entrance, and Star of David oculus window.

Built in 1912 by Ukrainian immigrants, this synagogue functioned as Newton's sole Jewish house of worship until Temple Emanuel opened in 1937.

The Torah ark and bema, added in 1924, were created by a Jewish-Ukrainian artisan who also designed components for the Vilna Shul.

The synagogue maintains regular Shabbat services and continues to serve multiple generations of families in the Newton community since its establishment.

The interior remains largely unchanged since 1912, with original architectural elements preserved through careful maintenance and restoration efforts.
