Woodlawn

Woodlawn is a two-story brick house with five bays and twelve fireplaces distributed throughout its interior. The building sits on approximately 10 acres at the intersection of VA 250 and VA 612, southeast of Oilville.

The house was built in the late 1700s and received an Ionic column porch addition around 1810. A frame kitchen extension was added in 1937.

The house displays the craftsmanship of its era through original glass panes and woodwork that reveal how early American builders worked. Walking through the rooms, visitors can observe these preserved construction details firsthand.

The property sits removed from major roads and offers space to explore the grounds and gardens on foot. Wear comfortable shoes, as the estate is sizable and requires walking to see all areas.

The boxwood trees in the formal gardens are over 100 years old and shape the appearance of the grounds today. These mature plants create spaces and structure that visitors encounter while walking through the landscape.
