The concrete block station features rounded corners, vertical strips of glass blocks illuminated by green neon tubing, and a stucco exterior finish.
Built in 1947 and remodeled in 1953, this Amoco station represented the evolving marketing strategies of oil companies during the mid-twentieth century.
The station became a central gathering point for local teenagers who watched muscle car drag racing on Williamson Road from 1947 to 1962.
Located at 1721 Williamson Road Northeast, the station includes a repair shop and covers an area of 0.6 acres of accessible space.
The station's architectural design by George W. Terp transformed from an initial 'iced-box' style to a 'stylized-box' design during its 1953 renovation.
