Bolling Haxall House
Bolling Haxall House, Renaissance Revival mansion in downtown Richmond, United States.
The Bolling Haxall House is a three-story Italian Villa-style building with sandstone-colored stucco and fluted columns supporting arched openings. The complex includes multiple rooms for events and displays classical Renaissance Revival features throughout its exterior and interior design.
The house was built in 1858 by Bolling Walker Haxall and reflects the wealthy architecture of 19th-century Richmond. The Woman's Club purchased the property in 1900 and added an auditorium in 1916 to support the organization's expanding activities.
The house serves as headquarters for the Woman's Club, an organization dedicated to education and community activities. The rooms reflect how prominent women in Richmond shaped social and cultural life in the city.
The building is easily accessible and has parking available nearby for visitors. The spaces work well for events and groups, and staff can answer questions about availability and use.
Inside, a striking circular staircase frames floor-to-ceiling windows and preserves classical details from its origins. These architectural elements date to the 19th century and offer insight into the craftsmanship of that era.
