Cascade Falls is a 25-foot waterfall in downtown Osceola that drops over exposed rock into a glen surrounded by forest at different levels. The water flows over natural stone formations that create the scenic feature visitors see today.
The falls powered early industry in Osceola during the 1800s when mill and brewery operations relied on the water flow. This made the site economically important to the town's development in its early years.
Local residents maintain seasonal traditions of illuminating the falls with colored lights, transforming the natural landmark into an evening attraction.
You will need to descend about 135 stairs from the overlook platform to reach the base of the falls. The area can become slippery when wet or icy, so wear sturdy shoes and move carefully through the glen.
During winter months the water freezes into natural ice formations that transform the appearance of the site completely. A smaller waterfall called Geiger Falls merges into the main cascade just above it, adding another layer to what visitors see.
