Agamont Park, Public park in Bar Harbor, United States
Located at the eastern end of West Street, Agamont Park provides an open recreational space with views across the Bar Harbor waterfront and Mount Desert Island.
The park bears the name of the Agamont House, the first hotel in Bar Harbor built by Tobias Roberts in 1857, which stood in this location until burning down in 1888.
During the 19th century, numerous artists from the Hudson River School, including Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, created paintings of the surrounding landscapes from this location.
The park includes walking paths, benches, and grassy areas for picnicking, with adjacent parking facilities available for visitors exploring Bar Harbor.
The name Agamont originates from a child's interpretation of 'Aqua Mont,' referring to the hill's position near the water, as named by Tobias Roberts' granddaughter.
