Wixom Lake, Reservoir in Michigan, United States.

Wixom Lake is a reservoir that stretches across Gladwin and Midland counties, forming a network of interconnected water bodies with varied depths and coves. The system is managed through multiple dam structures that control the water levels throughout the year.

The reservoir was created in 1925 through construction of the Edenville Dam and took its name from Frank Wixom, who contributed to the project. The facility has played a key role in water management and power generation for the region since its establishment.

The lake serves as a gathering place for residents and boaters who use its waters year-round. The surrounding community actively maintains involvement in protecting the waterways and shoreline.

The lake is accessible year-round for recreational activities, with warmer months offering the best conditions for water sports and boating. Visitors should be aware of ongoing maintenance work on the dam structures, as this may affect water levels and access at certain times.

A Type O Steam Shovel lay submerged on the lake bottom for nearly a century before a local resident began its restoration in recent years. This rare industrial artifact tells the story of early construction history and is gradually being recovered from the water.
