Wasserflue

Wasserflue is a mountain peak in Aargau rising to 865 meters with a communication antenna at its summit. It sits east of the Salhöhe Pass in the Jura range and features an observation platform positioned 400 meters from the television tower.

This peak formed as a natural geographic feature in the Jura range, serving over time as a distinctive landmark between the Swiss Plateau and the Fricktal region. Modern infrastructure like the communication antenna was later added to capitalize on its elevated position for signal transmission.

The hiking trails around this summit are part of the second stage of the Aargauer Trail, connecting Wittnau and Aarau through a regional walking network. This route reflects how locals and visitors move through the landscape using marked paths that link neighboring communities.

The walk to this peak starts from the Benkerjoch bus stop and takes about one hour on foot to reach the observation platform. The terrain is straightforward to navigate with well-marked trails that lead clearly upward.

Wall lizards with distinctive patterns gather on the rocks near the observation platform during summer months. These reptiles offer an unexpected natural moment for visitors who pay attention to the wildlife inhabiting these higher slopes.
