Autódromo La Guácima, tor wyścigowy (Kostaryka)
Autódromo La Guácima is a racing track in Alajuela, Costa Rica, stretching about 2 kilometers with nine curves designed for different racing competitions. The circuit features straight sections where drivers reach speeds over 130 miles per hour (210 kilometers), smooth asphalt surfaces, and safety barriers positioned along the course.
The track opened in 1974 as Costa Rica's first racing circuit and has remained central to the country's motorsport scene since then. After multiple closures and reopenings, the facility underwent renovation in 2015 with a complete resurfacing to meet current safety standards.
The name comes from the guacimö tree, a plant native to the region. This place brings together racing drivers and fans who share their passion for motorsport and cheer on local talent competing on the track.
The facility is located within Parque Viva, a large entertainment complex with multiple entrances and parking for thousands of vehicles, including accessible pathways for people with disabilities. On race days, arrive early as the venue fills quickly during major events, and numerous food stands and restroom facilities are spread throughout the grounds.
The track is integrated within the Parque Viva complex, which also houses an amphitheater seating up to 16,000 people where well-known Latin American artists perform. This makes it a place where visitors can experience both racing action and concerts during a single weekend visit.
