Žabnický vodopád, Natural waterfall in Podhoří and Uhřínov, Czech Republic.
Žabnický vodopád is a waterfall system with three separate cascades along Žabník stream near Podhoří and Uhřínov. The falls are set within a forested landscape and can be viewed from a wooden bridge that crosses the stream in this area.
The waterfall system formed through natural erosion of Paleozoic slate, which has shaped the geology of this region over millions of years. This ongoing process continues to influence the landscape and water flow patterns seen today.
Local nature guides organize educational walks to the waterfall, teaching visitors about the geological features and water dynamics of the Moravian landscape.
Access is via a forest path that branches off from the road toward Podhoří village and is straightforward to locate. Wear sturdy footwear since the path can be wet and slippery, especially after rain.
The middle cascade features a distinctive slide-like upper section where water flows vertically in its lower half. This unusual shape results from the particular arrangement of slate layers beneath the stream.
