Church of the Holy Trinity in Kuks, Baroque church complex in Kuks, Czech Republic
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Kuks is part of a former spa complex, its exterior adorned with stone sculptures representing virtues and vices carved by Matthias Braun. The building combines religious architecture with artistic details that define the entire ensemble.
The church was built between 1707 and 1715 by Count Franz Anton von Sporck after he discovered mineral springs in the area. It became the focal point of an ambitious spa project that linked prosperity with religious affirmation.
The church served as the spiritual heart of a spa resort, drawing people who sought healing from the nearby mineral springs. Visitors can still sense how this place once united faith and the pursuit of wellness.
The church is accessible during daytime hours and offers guided tours in multiple languages when booked in advance. Plan your visit during the warmer months, as access is limited to the April through October period.
Beneath the church lies a network of passages connecting it to the former hospital, concealing burial chambers within. These underground spaces reveal how closely faith was intertwined with medical care in this complex.
