Weinhübel, Residential district in Görlitz, Germany
Weinhübel is a residential district in Görlitz near the German-Polish border situated about 189 meters above sea level. The area consists of apartment blocks and older houses spread across gently rolling terrain.
The district developed from the settlement of Leschwitz and was renamed Weinhübel in 1936. After World War II it was incorporated into Görlitz in 1949.
The district retains traces of its agricultural past visible in older buildings and street layouts that shaped the neighborhood. These rural roots continue to influence how the place feels today.
Tram lines connect the district directly to central Görlitz, making travel without a car straightforward. A cycling path along the Oder-Neisse river provides a pleasant route for exploring the surrounding area.
After 1945 the district received thousands of new apartments through a special East German housing program. This series of standardized multi-family houses still shapes the neighborhood's appearance today.
