Schloss Demerthin, Renaissance castle and museum in Demerthin, Brandenburg, Germany.

Schloss Demerthin is a Renaissance castle with two stories crowned by multiple gabled dormers rising above the saddle roof, creating the visual impression of an additional floor. The architecture displays characteristic features of this period in Brandenburg, combining functional and decorative elements.

The castle was built in 1604 and remained under ownership of the von Klitzing family until 1945. This continuous family ownership spanning more than 3 centuries shaped the property's fate and development through the Renaissance period and beyond.

The museum displays how the nobility lived here and managed their estates, with rooms reflecting different phases of the castle. The exhibition allows visitors to understand the daily life of former residents and the changes the building experienced over centuries.

Visitors must arrange visits in advance by contacting the administration office at Schulstraße 10 in Gumtow OT Demerthin. It is advisable to clarify opening times and availability beforehand to avoid disappointment.

Writer Theodor Fontane identified this castle as the final Renaissance castle built in Mark Brandenburg. This historical classification makes it a notable example of an architectural era ending in the region.
