Amelungsborn Abbey, Lutheran monastery in Negenborn, Germany.
The monastery features traditional Cistercian architecture with stone walls, arched windows, and a central church dedicated to Saint Mary.
Founded in 1135 as a Cistercian institution, Amelungsborn Abbey transformed into a Lutheran monastery during the Protestant Reformation in 1568.
The monastery maintains daily Lutheran services and houses an active religious community of an abbot with eight brothers and thirty lay members.
The site functions as both a monastery and a parish church for the local communities of Negenborn and Holenberg in Lower Saxony.
This monastery stands as one of only two Lutheran monasteries in Germany that have maintained continuous operations since their establishment.
