Nordbad, Dresden

Nordbad in Neustadt is a swimming facility that combines traditional and modern amenities under one roof. The building houses a pool with adjustable bottom depth, separate wellness and sauna areas, and a dedicated toddler pool.

The swimming hall opened in 1895 as Dresden's first public bathing facility, originally equipped with 22 bathtubs. Though the building stood empty for years, citizens' efforts led to its restoration and reopening in 1996.

The building reflects the dedication of residents who fought for its preservation in the 1990s and made its restoration possible. The connection between local civic spirit and the desire to protect a historical landmark continues to shape the place today.

The water is heated to 30 degrees Celsius and the facility is accessible on weekdays in the early afternoon and on weekends in the morning. Visitors should check the current opening hours before arriving, as these may vary seasonally.

The building still preserves architectural elements from the 19th century that recall its origins as the city's first public bathing facility. These historical details are visible in the modern rooms and show how the old structure was carefully adapted for today's use.
