Wechterswinkel Abbey
Wechterswinkel Abbey, Cistercian nunnery in Bastheim, Germany
The abbey contains a two-story solid plaster structure with a pitched roof and gabled staircases from the seventeenth century near Würzburg.
Bishop Embricho of Würzburg and King Conrad III of Germany established the monastery in 1134, which operated until its dissolution in 1592.
The monastery church of Saints Cosmas and Damian features a late Romanesque basilica structure with round arches and original medieval masonry.
The district of Rhön-Grabfeld converted the abbey buildings into a cultural center that presents exhibitions, concerts, and performances since 2008.
The bell tower houses four bells, including three from 1969 by Gustav Fuchs, each carrying specific religious inscriptions and dedications.
