Synagoge Michelstadt, 18th century synagogue in Michelstadt, Germany.

Synagoge Michelstadt is an 18th century building located at Mauerstrasse 19 next to the old city wall, featuring late baroque design with a half-hipped roof. The interior contains a women's gallery and simple religious furnishings typical of Jewish prayer spaces from that era.

The building was constructed in 1791 on the site of an earlier religious structure and has shaped the town's character since then. During the 1938 pogrom the interior was destroyed, but the outer walls survived and the space was eventually restored.

The building served as a center for the local Jewish community to gather for worship and religious education over many generations. Visitors today can observe how the simple interior and gallery arrangement reflect the way the congregation organized their prayer space and community life.

Access is available from March through November, and groups can arrange guided tours in advance that last around 40 minutes. It helps to contact ahead to confirm the building is open during your intended visit time.

A keystone on the exterior wall displays the date 1791, marking when construction took place and catching visitors' eyes immediately. Inside, a Hebrew inscription from Numbers 24:5 conveys a religious message and remains visible today.
