St. Johannes und Paulus, Gothic Revival parish church in Beckingen, Germany
St. Johannes und Paulus is a parish church built in the Gothic Revival style in Beckingen. The building has three naves with the central section rising higher than the side aisles, and a continuous saddle roof extends from the nave to the polygonal choir.
The building was constructed between 1861 and 1863 under architect Carl Friedrich Muller from Saarlouis. It replaced an earlier medieval church that had stood at the same location.
The church is named after two apostles and reflects the deep religious connection of the community to these saints. Inside, paintings in the Nazarene style show the spiritual life that shaped the area in earlier times.
The building was thoroughly renovated between 2006 and 2007, with interior decorative paintings carefully restored to their original appearance. Access is straightforward and the structure is in good condition for visitors.
This is the only church north of the Alps dedicated to both Saints John and Paul, and it was built entirely using stones quarried from a local site nearby.
