Mariä Himmelfahrt, Gothic Revival parish church in Marpingen, Germany
Mariä Himmelfahrt is a Gothic Revival parish church in Marpingen featuring a Romanesque tower that houses three bells. The church contains a 32-register organ built by Johannes Klais Orgelbau and installed in 1975.
The foundation stone was laid on March 1, 1902, after a building committee led by Pastor Theodor Schmitt began planning the project in 1896. The church was built through regular donations from the parish community over several years.
The interior displays a Medieval altar retable on the south side and a wooden Schutzmantelmadonna sculpture from Oberammergau. These handcrafted works shape the character of the church and reflect long-standing devotional traditions.
The church welcomes visitors during services and at other times for those wishing to view the interior. Exploring both the main interior space and the tower gives a full sense of the building's structure and character.
A historic bell from 1363 survives in the tower and has endured multiple renovations of the building itself. Two additional bells cast in 1950 complement this ancient bell in the tower's ringing ensemble.
