Wallfahrtskirche

Wallfahrtskirche Maria Himmelfahrt in Volkach is a late-Gothic structure from the 15th century with ornate stone decorations and religious motifs adorning its walls and vaults. The interior displays period-specific details and furnishings that reflect centuries of devotional use.

A church first stood on this site in 1158, then was replaced in the 15th century by the present structure reflecting late-Gothic architecture. A Beguine community settled nearby around 1330, becoming part of the religious development of the location.

The devotion to Mary and the rosary has shaped this place for centuries and still draws believers from surrounding regions. Pilgrims gather here to participate in communal prayers and processions that connect them to centuries of faith.
