Christoph Halle

Christoph Halle is an intensive care transport helicopter based at Halle-Oppin Airport that carries out emergency rescues and hospital transfers throughout Saxony-Anhalt. The aircraft features advanced medical systems and can transport patients with continuous physician care during flight.

The air rescue station in Halle began operations on June 18, 1991, establishing essential medical air transport services in the region. The deployment of this helicopter marked a turning point in reaching patients quickly in remote or difficult-to-access areas.

The crew brings together DRF Luftrettung pilots, emergency physicians from University Hospital Halle, and paramedics who work as one team during medical emergencies. This combination allows advanced medical care to happen right from the moment of pickup.

The helicopter can handle emergencies within about a 60-kilometer radius and reaches most locations in a maximum of 15 flight minutes. It operates from sunrise to sunset, which is important to know when considering its availability.

The helicopter team can use blood gas analyzers, video laryngoscopes, and portable ultrasound machines during flight, enabling full medical diagnostics in the air. These portable devices allow doctors to spot and treat critical conditions right during transport.
