Franzosenkopf, Mountain summit in Harz Mountains, Germany

The Franzosenkopf rises to an elevation of 481 meters, featuring dense beech forests and natural slopes within the Harz Mountains landscape.

The name Franzosenkopf, translating to French Head, dates back to historical territorial developments between Germanic and French influences in central Germany.

Local residents maintain traditional hiking paths across the mountain, connecting surrounding valleys of Mariental and Hackenstieltal through established routes.

Multiple marked trails lead to the summit from the northeastern section of Lonau, requiring approximately one hour of walking through forest paths.

The mountain stands between two distinct valleys, with the Kleine Lonau river creating a natural boundary along its eastern and southern perimeter.

Elevation above the sea: 481 m
