Adelspalais, Renaissance palace in Landshut, Germany.

The Adelspalais is a Renaissance palace in Landshut with carefully planned rooms and artfully designed interior spaces. The facade and interior decoration display Italian style elements such as rounded arcades, ornamental ceiling paintings, and refined proportions.

Construction began in 1536 under Duke Ludwig X, marking a turning point in European architecture as the first Renaissance palace north of the Alps. The work extended over years and left a lasting mark on the region's architectural history.

The building displays features inspired by Italian palaces, particularly visible in its vaulted ceilings and courtyard design. These architectural details reflect how Landshut wanted to present itself as a prosperous city during the Renaissance.

The building is located on Hofstraße in the old town and is easy to reach on foot. The narrow streets around the city center require some care when navigating, but the surroundings invite exploration.

Craftspeople from Italy came specifically to Landshut to work on the building and brought techniques that were entirely unknown north of the Alps. Their work introduced an entirely new building style to the region.
