Weihnachtskirche, Protestant church in Haselhorst, Germany
The Weihnachtskirche is a Protestant church in the Spandau area of Berlin. The building shows clear geometric shapes with cubic forms throughout, a slender bell tower, and a forecourt leading to the entrance.
The building was constructed in 1934 and 1935 following modernist design principles. After World War Two, it underwent major renovations from 1965 to 1966 that changed both the exterior and interior spaces.
The church takes its name from Christmas and shapes the modern character of the Haselhorst neighborhood with its distinctive form. The congregation gathers here for worship and community events that define religious life in this part of the city.
The interior can be visited during worship services and at set opening hours. Those interested in organ music will find regular recitals where the restored 1937 organ is played.
Inside the tower hang three bronze bells from 1957 made by the Feldmann & Marschel foundry. Each bell carries different inscriptions and produces its own distinct sound that rings out across the neighborhood.
