Jagdschloss Aschenbrennermarter

Jagdschloss Aschenbrennermarter is a building complex with natural stone foundations and a gable roof set within a large forest area. The site includes a chapel, dining hall, kitchen, and other structures that served the daily needs of a royal estate.

The lodge was built between 1893 and 1899 by Max Schultze for Prince Albert I of Thurn and Taxis. It was created as a hunting destination on the prince's vast forest lands.

The chapel and prince's rooms show how nobility wanted to live in the late 1800s. The different buildings reflect ideas about comfort and how important families displayed their status through their homes.

The lodge sits within a 2,800 hectare (6,900 acre) enclosed forest park with many hiking trails throughout. The roughly 22 kilometer (14 mile) Forstmühler Forst circular route offers the best way to explore the landscape on foot.

The forest around the lodge is home to deer, wild boar, lynx, beaver, otter, and black storks in their natural setting. This mix of animals is the result of careful management of the game park over many years.
