Burg Colmberg, Medieval castle in Colmberg, Germany.
Burg Colmberg is a medieval castle set on a hill near the village of Colmberg in Middle Franconia, Bavaria. It has several towers, thick stone walls, and a central courtyard, and today operates as a hotel with a restaurant.
The castle was founded around 1100 and served as a residence and seat of power for Franconian rulers. It later gained strategic importance under Hohenzollern rule in the region.
The two large halls inside the castle walls are regularly used for weddings and local celebrations, making it a living part of the region's social life. Guests walking through the building can see how old stonework and everyday gatherings coexist naturally in the same space.
The castle sits on a hill and is most easily reached by car, with parking available on site. Those who want to stay overnight can choose between rooms with a more traditional feel and those with a modern setup.
The hotel brews its own dark beer called Schwarzer Ritter, which is only available on the premises. This beer can be tasted exclusively during a visit and is not sold anywhere else.
