St. Nikolaus, Romanesque church in Böllberg district, Halle, Germany
St. Nikolaus is a Romanesque church built from sandstone with a semicircular apse displaying traditional architectural features of its era. The structure shows solid construction with a layout characteristic of this building period.
Dutch colonists built the church in the late 12th century in the Böllberg area. A weather vane from 1184 marks this early foundation date for the building.
The church serves the Protestant community as a regular gathering place for worship and religious observance in the neighborhood. It remains an active center for the congregation's spiritual life and celebrations.
You can visit the church on Saturdays from May through October between 10 AM and 5 PM. It is located at Böllberger Weg 152 and easy to find.
Inside the church stands a Renaissance-style pulpit created by Fritz Lewebe in 1930-31. The pulpit displays images of apostles along with a portrait of Martin Luther from 1657.
