Equestrian statue of Frederick V, Bronze sculpture at Amalienborg Slotsplads, Denmark
The grand equestrian statue presents King Frederick V on horseback, wearing classical attire and holding a commander's baton in the center of Amalienborg Square.
The Danish East India Company commissioned French sculptor Jacques Saly in 1752 to create this monument, which required 19 years of meticulous work until completion.
The statue represents Danish monarchy traditions and holds a place in the Danish Culture Canon as a symbol of national artistic achievement.
Visitors can view the statue from multiple angles while exploring the palace square, with guided tours available throughout the year.
The bronze casting process in 1768 produced a statue weighing 22 tons, making it larger than the typical royal monuments of its period.
