S324 Springeren, Museum submarine at Langelandsfortet, Denmark.
The S324 Springeren is a Norwegian submarine from the 1960s now displayed at the Langelandsfortet Museum. Visitors can walk through narrow corridors, crew quarters, and the command center to see how cramped life was aboard for the sailors.
The vessel was built in 1964 at a German shipyard for the Norwegian Navy and came into Danish hands in 1991. After retirement, it became part of the museum collection and now shows submarine technology from those decades.
The submarine exhibition at Cold War Museum Langelandsfortet presents maritime technology and naval strategies used during twentieth-century military operations.
Access to the submarine involves steep ladders and low passages, so comfortable footwear is recommended. The visit typically takes between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on interest and pace.
The crew consisted of 21 men who often stayed underwater for several weeks during patrols. Many visitors marvel at the tiny galley where all three daily meals were prepared.
