Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de Estíbaliz

The building dates back to the 11th century and was initially funded by noble woman Toda López from the House of Haro, demonstrating female nobility power.

The sanctuary forms part of the Camino del Interior pilgrimage route, serving as a significant stop for travelers heading to Santiago de Compostela.

Visitors can reach the sanctuary by traveling 8 kilometers from Vitoria-Gasteiz center, with guided tours available to explore the architectural and historical elements.

The Pope Francis granted a Holy Year to the sanctuary from May 2023 to May 2024, marking the centenary of the canonical coronation.
