Pantà de Sau

The Sau Reservoir extends over 572 hectares along the Ter River, reaching depths that completely submerge the former town of Sant Romà de Sau.

The construction of this dam in 1962 led to the complete submersion of Sant Romà de Sau, a settlement with historical records dating back to the 10th century.

The bell tower of Sant Romà church emerges from the water when levels are low, marking the location of the submerged village beneath the reservoir's surface.

With a storage capacity of 151.3 cubic hectometers, the reservoir supplies water to the surrounding regions while offering opportunities for kayaking and sailing activities.

The three-story bell tower, decorated in Lombardian style, becomes accessible by foot during periods of extreme drought, revealing the streets of the submerged village.
