Centralidad del Este, Urban development area in eastern Madrid, Spain
Centralidad del Este is an urban development project in eastern Madrid situated between the M-40, Radial 3, and M-21 highways, with Coslada municipality nearby in the San Blas-Canillejas district. The area will feature residential buildings, green spaces, and public facilities organized to create a functioning urban neighborhood.
The development originated as part of Madrid's bid for the 2020 Olympic Games but was shelved after the unsuccessful candidacy. It was revived in 2023 with renewed momentum to move forward.
The area will include art spaces and community facilities designed to bring people together and support daily life in the district. These places will become gathering points where residents and visitors can interact naturally.
Two Metro Line 7 stations have been constructed in this area but will only open once the neighborhood becomes operational. Visitors should know the site is still under development and facilities will be completed gradually over time.
The plan authorizes construction of about 20,000 new residences across phases running from 2035 to 2051. This extended timeline reveals the large scale of transformation and how gradually this eastern sector will take shape.
