The Church of Santa María de Uribarri features three naves with pointed windows, a central sanctuary, and a distinctive star-shaped vault ceiling.
The church structure combines Gothic-Renaissance elements from the 15th century with Baroque-Classicist additions from the first quarter of the 17th century.
The main altarpiece, created by sculptor Martín Ruíz de Zubiate, represents a prime example of religious art in the Biscay region.
The basilica maintains its position at Calle Kanpantorrosteta 9 in Durango, with direct access through the main portal and an additional entrance on the Epistle side.
The wooden choir section, dating from the Catholic Monarchs period, remains the oldest original element within the church structure.
