Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Ayala

The sanctuary features a late Romanesque design with a barrel-vaulted nave, three sections, and a large semicircular apse with three windows.

Originally a parish church of the medieval village of Ayala, the sanctuary became isolated when residents moved to Alegría/Dulantzi in the 14th century.

The building contains twelve red consecration crosses painted on its walls, marking its ceremonial blessing by a bishop during medieval times.

Located one kilometer from Alegría/Dulantzi along the Interior Way to Santiago de Compostela, the sanctuary includes archaeological remains in its surroundings.

The sanctuary preserves the only complete set of twelve medieval consecration crosses in Álava province, painted during the church's dedication ceremony.
