Outokumpu mine

The museum features a 277-meter tunnel that descends 50 meters underground, displaying authentic mining equipment and photographs from the 1900s mining operations.

Established in 1982 within a former miners' hostel, this museum preserves the legacy of copper extraction that shaped the development of the Outokumpu region.

The museum exhibits demonstrate the mining methods, tools, and daily routines of Finnish miners through extensive collections of machinery and mineral specimens.

Located at Tornikatu 1, the museum opens daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with admission prices of €8 for adults and €5 for children aged 3-12.

The underground tunnel maintains a constant temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and contains an exhibition of billion-year-old rocks in the Earth's Treasures collection.
