Playa de la Malagueta, Mediterranean beach in Centro district, Malaga, Spain.

Playa de la Malagueta is a one-kilometer stretch of fine golden sand where the waterline meets the city's older quarters on one side and developed promenades on the other. The shallow waters extend gradually before deepening, with surrounding hills forming a natural backdrop.

The beach became a recreational center in the 1850s when Malaga's port expansion brought new infrastructure to the coastal area. This development transformed it into a gathering place for the city's growing population.

The chiringuitos dotting the shoreline are traditional fishing huts where locals repair nets and prepare fresh seafood daily, shaping the beach's character and preserving a way of life passed down through generations.

Visitors can rent sun loungers, umbrellas, and water sports equipment, with lifeguards on duty during the swimming season from June to September. The beach is organized into different zones for various visitor types, making orientation and finding your preferred spot straightforward.

The beach features a dedicated naturist zone where visitors can enjoy the water and sun away from general crowds. This offering is uncommon in such a central city location.
