Playa de la Malagueta, Mediterranean beach in Centro district, Malaga, Spain.

The one-kilometer stretch of fine golden sand meets the Mediterranean Sea, offering views of the city skyline and mountain ranges in the distance.

The beach became a central recreation area in the 1850s when Malaga's port expansion brought new development to this coastal section of the city.

Local fishermen maintain their traditions by preparing fresh seafood in beachfront establishments called chiringuitos, serving regional specialties throughout the day.

The beach provides rental services for sun loungers, umbrellas, and water sports equipment, with lifeguards on duty during swimming season from June to September.

The beach features a dedicated zone for each type of visitor, including separate areas for families, sports enthusiasts, and naturists.

What to do in Malaga: the most beautiful places to visit between culture, history, and the seaside

Between the Mediterranean and the Andalusian hills, Malaga blends southern warmth with a thousand-year history. Birthplace of Picasso, it combines Moorish fortresses, Renaissance churches, orange-scented alleys, and avant-garde museums. The Alcazaba overlooks the city from its Moorish walls, the Roman theater recalls its origins, and the Cathedral of the Incarnation connects the centuries. Along the port, the Pompidou Center, contemporary galleries, and subtropical gardens revitalize Andalusian modernity. The stroll is slow, between white light and warm shadows, from the Atarazanas market to the views of Gibralfaro. Malaga is no longer just a seaside stopover: it is a city to explore, to see, and to feel.
