Mount Stuart House is a Gothic Revival mansion on the Isle of Bute featuring a grand central Marble Hall with a high decorated ceiling. The interior spaces are richly furnished and decorated with ornate architectural details throughout the building.
The original house on this site dated from the early 18th century but was destroyed by fire in the late 1800s. The rebuilt structure that followed represents a significant transformation of the property into its current form.
The house contains extensive art collections with paintings, furniture, and manuscripts displayed throughout its ornate rooms. These collections reflect the tastes and interests of successive owners across generations.
