All Saints Chapel, Somerford, Anglican chapel in Somerford, England
All Saints Chapel is a brick building with four sections, round-arched windows topped with ball finials, and Corinthian columns that support an interior gallery on the western side. The structure shows careful craftsmanship in its chequer brick pattern and detailed architectural elements throughout.
Peter Shackerley built this as a private chapel for Somerford Hall in 1725 to serve his household. It became a public chapel of ease in 1943 when it took on a wider community role.
The east window contains a memorial dedicated to three Shakerley family members who lost their lives during World War I.
This is an active Anglican place of worship within the Chester diocese, managed alongside other nearby parishes. Visitor access may be limited, so it helps to check opening times before you arrive.
The interior holds two memorials from different eras: one to Elizabeth Shakerley from the 1600s positioned on the north side of the altar, and another to three family members lost in World War I visible in the east window. These two monuments span more than two centuries of the Shakerley family's connection to this place.
