Asham Wood extends across 140 hectares of deep valleys and plateaus, featuring limestone formations and diverse tree species throughout its protected area.
The woodland received official designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest in 1963, marking a formal recognition of its environmental significance.
Local conservation groups regularly monitor fifty installed dormouse boxes throughout the forest to track and support the native wildlife population.
Visitors can access the woodland through maintained paths that wind through the valleys, with parking facilities available near the entrance points.
A permanent stream flows through the forest terrain, leading to Chantry Pond in the eastern section of the protected area.
