Cae Mabon

Cae Mabon is an eco-retreat in Snowdonia featuring a Celtic roundhouse and seven dwellings built from natural materials such as straw bales, cedar logs, and stone, all nestled within an oak forest. The buildings use innovative materials like hempcrete and can accommodate about 30 guests with shared kitchen, toilet, and washing facilities.

The Celtic roundhouse was the first structure built at the site and reflects the architectural form of pre-Roman dwellings. The development of the place shows a modern approach to sustainability that draws inspiration from ancient building traditions.

The center hosts regular workshops on permaculture, meditation, and storytelling, where people from different backgrounds come together to engage with nature and traditional practices.

The site is located near Llyn Padarn and works well for visitors interested in exploring ecological practices, with facilities using sustainable systems like composting toilets and rainwater collection. The best time to visit is during warmer months when outdoor areas and forest paths offer the most space and accessibility.

The site includes a Tree Nest structure that serves as an addition to the riverside ceremony area, offering a distinctive feature. This elevated space provides a different perspective on the grounds and the surrounding landscape.
