Church of St Mary and St Michael, Bonds, Roman Catholic church in Bonds, Lancashire, England.
The Church of St Mary and St Michael is a Roman Catholic building in Gothic Revival style located in Bonds, Lancashire. It features a five-bay nave with a chancel beneath a continuous roof, constructed entirely from sandstone with slate coverings.
The building was designed in 1858 by architect Edward Graham Paley and replaced an earlier chapel near Garstang. The project reflected the expansion of Catholic infrastructure in the region during the 19th century.
The interior displays a substantial reredos made of Caen stone with arcading and a marble-decorated altar that shapes the character of the space. This ornate furnishing invites visitors to appreciate the craftsmanship typical of the Victorian period.
The church accommodates about 600 people and serves as an active place of worship within the Diocese of Lancaster. Visitors should check service times before planning a visit to ensure access to the interior.
The west tower rises in three stages with diagonal buttresses and includes a stair turret that extends above the main structure with a spirelet. This architectural detail gives the roofline a distinctive Victorian character.
