Norris Castle

Norris Castle is a country house on the Isle of Wight set on 225 acres of land with water views. The building blends classical and Gothic architectural elements within an expansive landscaped park and formal garden areas.

A wealthy nobleman commissioned a renowned British architect in 1795 to design the castle. The building was completed over approximately 10 years and reflects the architectural style of its era.

The castle takes its name from a Norman knight who settled in the area centuries ago. This naming reflects how the family became tied to the estate's identity over time.

The property is currently closed to visitors while restoration work is planned. However, the waterside location offers beautiful walking paths and water views in the surrounding area.

A former owner built a lengthy defensive wall along the shoreline to protect the land from erosion. This project was an early example of coastal protection efforts in the region.
