Minera Lead Mines, Lead mining heritage site in Wrexham County Borough, Wales
The excavation complex features preserved mining buildings, exposed mineshafts, and limestone structures spread across the industrial landscape near Minera village.
Mining operations at this location began during the reign of Edward I, when local miners traveled to Cornwall to assist with tin mining development.
The site represents Welsh industrial heritage through remaining structures including engine houses, spoil heaps, and water reservoirs from lead extraction activities.
Visitors can explore the designated paths connecting former engine houses, wheel pits, and mine shafts throughout the preserved industrial complex.
Three lime kilns operated at Minera Mill in 1620, marking an early industrial diversification beyond lead extraction in the region.
