Palace Theatre, Swansea

The Palace Theatre is a six-floor Grade II listed building featuring cast iron balconies and original brick from Ebbw Vale. The structure showcases Victorian architecture with characteristic details visible across each level.

Built in 1888, the structure served across generations as a performance venue, cinema, bingo hall, and nightclub. Its varied use reflects the changing entertainment culture in Swansea over more than a century.

The building displays Victorian design elements such as cast iron balconies and restored floor tiles that reflect its original craftsmanship. Visitors can notice these handcrafted details when walking through the spaces and exploring the different levels.

Following a 6.9 million pound renovation, the building now operates as a modern workspace managed by Tramshed Tech with coworking areas and private offices. Visitors should check in advance which areas are open to the public.

The original theatre stage remains intact and now serves as an event space and collaborative area for technology and creative businesses. This shows how historic rooms can find new purposes while preserving their past.
