Point Lynas Lighthouse

Point Lynas Lighthouse features a square castellated tower with a lantern at ground level, standing 11 meters tall on a rocky headland.

The present lighthouse, constructed in 1835 by Jesse Hartley, replaced an earlier structure from 1779 that guided ships entering and leaving Liverpool.

The lighthouse compound represents maritime heritage through its architecture, including keeper cottages and high stone walls that reflect traditional Welsh construction methods.

Two renovated lighthouse keeper cottages within the compound accommodate up to six guests each, providing opportunities for overnight stays near the coast.

The lighthouse operates with a lantern at ground level due to its position at 28 meters above sea level, eliminating the need for a traditional tall tower.
