Penrhos Country Park, Country park in Holyhead, Wales
Penrhos Country Park is a coastal park near Holyhead that runs along the shoreline with wooded trails, two large ponds, and views across Beddmanarch Bay. The grounds feature different habitats and natural areas that visitors can explore on foot or by bicycle.
The park was originally part of the Stanley family estate before opening to the public in 1971. Its development involved the Anglesey Aluminium company, which helped shape the land into the park visitors see today.
The parkland maintains designated status as both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Wales.
The park is accessible from Holyhead via National Cycle Route 8 and has parking available at the Penrhos beach entrance. Comfortable shoes are recommended as the paths cover considerable distances across the grounds.
The park received national recognition when it won the title of UK's Favourite Park in 2022 through a Fields in Trust poll.
