Raymond Revuebar, Strip club in Walker's Court, Soho, United Kingdom
The Raymond Revuebar was a strip club at 11 Walker's Court in Soho's entertainment district, featuring multiple nightly shows with both female and male dancers. The venue had different sections, including an upstairs theatre space that hosted various performances alongside the dance shows.
Paul Raymond founded this club in 1958 as Britain's first strip club, converting the former Doric Ballroom into a members-only venue. This opening marked a turning point in British entertainment culture and changed what was possible in London's nightlife.
The Boulevard Theatre upstairs became a launching pad for British comedians like Eddie Izzard and Steve Coogan during the 1980s. This space played a key role in shaping the British comedy scene of that era.
The original site now operates as The Box Soho, continuing the tradition of late-night entertainment in London's West End. Visitors should know that it operates with different access rules than the historic venue once did.
The club attracted around 45,000 members within two years of opening and generated over half a million pounds in its first decade. These numbers reveal how quickly it became a profitable and sought-after destination in London's nightlife.
