Royal Pier, Grade II listed pier in Aberystwyth, United Kingdom.
The Royal Pier extends 244 meters into Cardigan Bay, featuring a pavilion at its landward end that houses entertainment facilities and dining venues.
Engineer Eugenius Birch designed this structure in 1865, making it the first pleasure pier in Wales, with initial construction costs of £13,600.
The iron and glass pavilion, opened by the Prince of Wales in 1896, accommodated 3,000 spectators for various entertainment performances.
Visitors can access multiple facilities including a restaurant serving seaside food, an amusement arcade, billiards room, and nightclub under one roof.
Thousands of starlings gather beneath the deck each evening, creating natural displays as they roost on the supporting ironwork structure.
