Sibsey Trader Mill

Sibsey Trader Mill is a six-sailed windmill rising through six stories in Lincolnshire, England. The structure preserves its complete milling machinery and features a working fantail system that automatically adjusts the sails to face the wind.

Built in 1877 by Saunderson of Louth, this mill replaced an earlier post mill that had stood on the site. It operated for nearly 80 years before ceasing work in the mid-20th century.

The mill represents a link to the region's agricultural past and shows how grain was processed using time-honored methods that shaped local life. Walking through the structure, you can see the working parts that kept communities fed for many years.

The mill is located on Frithville Road in Sibsey and opens on select days, especially during the warmer months. It is worth checking ahead to confirm when visits are possible, as restoration work may affect access.

Few six-sailed mills remain in England, making this one particularly rare among its kind. Inside, the original grinding system still sits ready, allowing visitors to see how the sails and gears worked together to process grain.
