St John the Baptist's Church, Smallwood

St John the Baptist's Church, Smallwood, Gothic Revival Anglican church in Smallwood, England

St John the Baptist's Church in Smallwood is a Gothic Revival building constructed from sandstone with ornate window designs throughout. The interior contains a nave, chancel, southwest porch, northwest vestry, and lancet windows featuring Y-tracery patterns.

Architect Charles Trubshaw designed this church, which was built between 1843 and 1846. It was constructed during a period of Anglican parish expansion in the region.

The church serves the local Anglican community and shares its ministry with a neighboring parish. You will find people gathering here regularly for worship and community events.

The church is located on Church Lane in Smallwood and is easily accessible for visitors and parishioners. Regular services run throughout the year if you want to attend a service or simply explore the building.

The interior roof features a distinctive hammerbeam system that is stabilized by angle buttresses at the four corners of the building. This combination of traditional roofing and structural reinforcement is characteristic of churches from this period.
